Our Mandarin/English Dual Language program started in 2006, and it still remains one of only a few programs of its kind throughout the entire NYC public school system. There is one dual language class on each grade from grade 1 to grade 5. Half of the students are English-speakers and half are Mandarin-speakers. Children have instructions from two teachers from grade 2 to grade 5, one who speaks English and one who speaks Mandarin. First grade has a self-contained bilingual teacher (same teacher all day, teaches English one day and Chinese for the next day) Curriculum is taught in both languages and follows NYS & NYC standards.
